I feel like I’ve been writing a lot of these lately.

The USDA’s Food Safety Inspection Service has issued a public health alert for Weis Markets Ready-to-Eat General Tso’s Chicken Meals due to an undeclared allergen and mislabeling.  The products may contain milk, which to some is an unpleasant allergen. All items were prepared in-house between April 13, 2022 and May 11, 2022 with sell-by dates of April 13, 2022 through May 15, 2022.

The products are as follows:

  • Deli compartment containers containing “Weis GENERAL TSO CHICKEN FAMILY MEAL Serving Size 1 cup Calories 500.”
  • Deli compartment containers containing “Weis GENERAL TSO CHICKEN SMALL MEAL Serving Size 1 cup Calories 500.”
  • Deli compartment containers containing “Weis GENERAL TSO MEAL Serving Size 1 each Calories 910.”

These items are no longer for sale; however, concern still exists because they may still be in consumers’ refrigerators.  If that is the case, anyone with these items that has an allergy to milk is strongly urged to discard or return them.  Thankfully, there have been no reported illnesses.

You may contact Weis Markets at (866) 999-9347, option 5, Mon-Fri, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. ET.
