McDonald’s has paired with Beyond Meat to create the McPlant Burger.  The new menu item is in its testing phase and will only be in eight restaurants for a limited time: Irving and Carrollton, Texas, Cedar Falls, Iowa, Jennings and Lake Charles, Louisiana and El Segundo and Manhattan Beach, California.

The burger will be topped with onions, pickles, shredded lettuce, tomato, ketchup, mustard, mayonnaise, and cheese, served on a toasted sesame seed bun.  It will have 510 calories.  For some context, a Quarter Pounder with Cheese is 520 Cal.; a Big Mac is 550 Cal.; and a Cheeseburger is 300 Cal.

This is just the latest announcement from Beyond Meat.  Earlier this month they announced a partnership with YUM! Brands that will bring their products into Pizza Hut Canada and KFC chains.  The move to partner with McDonald’s is a big one for the California-based company.  They will be partnering with a company that has over 14,000 locations in the U.S. alone.
