A recent multi-state outbreak of Hepatitis A might be linked to fresh organic strawberries. The product is branded as FreshKampo and HEB, purchased between March 5, 2022, and April 25, 2022.

While the product is well past its shelf life, some may have frozen it. If that is the case, those that bought the affected item between the dates above must remove it from the freezer and discard it. You may also return it if you can recall the place of purchase.

These strawberries were distributed nationwide through these retailers:

  • Aldi
  • HEB
  • Kroger
  • Safeway
  • Sprouts Farmers Market
  • Trader Joe’s
  • Walmart
  • Weis Markets
  • WinCo Foods

There have been 17 reported illnesses, 12 hospitalizations, and no deaths up to this point. The states that have recorded those illnesses are California, Minnesota, and North Dakota.
