Meat processing giant, JBS USA has been fined $14,502 for failing to prevent large outbreaks of COVID within two of its plants in the spring of 2020.
Those plants in Greeley, Colorado, and Green Bay, Wisconsin combined for 640 cases of COVID that resulted in seven deaths.
According to the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), the fines will be imposed upon JBS subsidiaries Swift Beef Co. and JBS Green Bay Inc.
Along with payment of the fine is the promise to implement more comprehensive safety programs within all seven American JBS plants. Proposed measures will include higher standards of cleaning, visitor screening, and improved ventilation.
